GAIA's QUEST

In the 2017 Virtual world’s conference the original 'Tribal Quest' was successfully featured as an immersive experience.  This was was extended further following an approach by Whole Brain Health to redevelop and update this sim on Inspiration Island. This was featured again as one of the final events at this year’s Virtual world’s conference on March 29th.
​
The experience contains an immersive ‘Indiana Jones’ style adventure touring and interacting with various artefacts and enabling participants to use the basic controls of SL whilst learning about the culture and wisdom of the ancients.  
​
This allows for a broader representation of the ancient cultures in the Tribal Quest through art, light and sound and also shared spaces for cross cultural events and performances to share the diversity of ancient culture and for visitors to experience and interact with ancient wisdom and history.
 
Art will be selected and curated from those wishing to represent the cultures in a shared gallery. It is strongly felt that in the age of today, there is a greater need for cross cultural understanding and dialogue and SL and digital space in general is an environment where barriers can be removed. Ancient cultures contain much wisdom for harmony in the current day which would otherwise be lost with the advancing and accelerating modernization of industrial and urban society.

The immersive experience not only integrates the basic skills for using the SL viewer but also is integrated with the 5 ways for wellbeing by enabling participants to ‘take notice’ through mindful observation, ‘connect’ and give’ by helping other participants out on the adventure, ‘learn’ about new skills and other cultures, and ‘keep active’ by using movement such as exercise and dance.  All these activities are positive for improving mental health and wellbeing.

Anyone not wanting to take part in the game can also tour the experience and interact with the various exhibition areas on display and participate in the events.

Additionally
​
·         A programme of cultural events will take place on the land that will fuse art, music, dance and historical artefacts on the sim so as to broaden appreciation.
·         'Show and Tell' workshops on building and scripting so that anyone wishing to setup their own immersive adventure or cultural community can do so.
·         This will culminate in an inter-sim one world festival after the three months with hope to fundraise to support the sim thereafter
